We've come to associate autumn as a season of layering, this is generally relegated to clothing, but lately I've been loving the look of layered jewellery. While I tend to favour a bit more of a minimal look with jewellery and accessories, I've been having fun of indulging my inner maximalist and loving the look of multiple pieces all worn together. A bit of a break from the ordinary and an easy way to create a big statement with a few simpler pieces to balance out the heavier layers of fall clothing.
Princess Diana wears both her own and Prince Charles' watches during a 1981 polo match.
How much is too much? This might be getting close (above).
Done right, each piece really compliments the others and gives it a greater impact than it would have on its own.

Whoa... her ring is just like Kate's. Sigh. I think William must be the most wonderfully sensitive soul.
DB - Kate actually wears Diana's ring - so yes, they're exactly the same :)
What a lovely blog...I've just been backtracking your posts today. I love finding new places to visit!
I always feel more like layering this time of year anyway, clothing or jewelry. I love the impact!
I will visit again!

Well - rings I don't really do. But bracelets - I have been piling them on since I was little. Silver most of the time but sometimes it's all about the gold. :)

Love the layering!
Layering jewels can be great (the left hand with the wristwatch and all the bangles in the second pic is harmonious enough), sometimes, but demands a certain degree of taste and measured flamboyance.
Personally I like the look of layered necklaces a lot when done right: a difficult, sometimes "entangled" business, but so delightful when done right.
Thanks for the interesting, inspiring post!
Sometimes it's a little too much...but I love chunky jewelry so I'm probably guilty of looking like a jewelry box sometimes;)
diana always the trend setter!
