    Something to tweet about...

I've been a little slow to join Twitter - at first I was a little confused about what it was all about - with all the social networking sites, do you really need to know more about what everyone is up to? Now I'm discovering the fun and thinking it's a fun way to chat and share ideas. How about you, do you twitter? Find me on twitter at alifemorefab (so irritated I couldn't spell the whole word and all alternatives seemed to be taken! - guess that's what I get for joining late!)
Hope that whatever your status is - whether on twitter or not - it's happy, relaxed and enjoying this balmy summer evening!

    You give me butterflies...

I've had a life-long fascination with butterflies and have collected them since I was 15. They just have a ethereal, magical quality about them. Somehow life just seems in harmony whenever they are around. Perhaps the secret to happiness is to surround yourself with butterflies - especially the best kind of butterflies, the ones you get in your stomach after an unexpected kiss.

One of my own secret skills is a knack for cutting out paper butterflies, I've been doing it since my early teens when I would cut them out for my younger sister to stick on my inside of her bedside lamp shade. My heart fluttered when I discovered Paul Villinski's 'Beer Can Butterflies" through {ThisIsGlamorous} some time ago and I've been in love with them ever since. In fact, they've inspired a little installation art piece of my own at home (also a little bit of wedding decor...)

Hope your summer day is filled with the very best butterflies.

    Matchy Matchy

    How cute are these two?
I kinda love how perfectly coordinated Mr and Mrs O. were at a recent Ambassadors reception. I know I've found on several occasions I will, even subconsciously, coordinate or at least compliment my outfits with Andrew's. I'm often afraid of looking too joint-at-the-hip though.
How about you? Would you/do you co-ordinate outfits with your partner before heading out?

Fabulous Finds in Blue and White

I started off with a wedding decor theme of sunny pinks and yellows as accents, however, due to a series of events (including my new J Crew pink heels for the occasion arriving far too big to wear!) I have had a change of heart and gone back to an inital idea - and one of my very favourite colour combinations - blue and white. With so much chatter about centre pieces, wedding veils and registries, my minds aflutter with delicious blue and white - I'm seeing it everywhere I go...

Gorgeous blue and white wallpaper at Ruthie Sommers. Those dark purple
    hydrangeas are stunning!

I instantly fell in love with the Medallion dinnerware set from (drumroll...) Target! I have a passion for blue and white pottery and this design looks like something much more expensive but they're inexpensive enough to use everyday worry free!

I've always looked for Pistachio Press whenever I was in Barnes and Noble or Indigo bookstores, but I was delighted to find that they have their very own store now. It's beautiful and packed with eco-friendly and ethically conscious stationery, tea and even chocolates. :)

Aren't these just too pretty? The Lyla heels from J. Crew are perfectly girly but I think the navy and white stops it from being too precious. Makes me wish I'd see these before my ill-fated pink ones...

A lovely dress with soft ruffles and navy and white polka dots in a style that reminds me of my favourite era in fashion.

    An Absent Note

So sorry I didn't have a post earlier today - I got a little stretched for time. I've been out and about wedding scouting with my sister. Quite fun errands to run I have to say...

    A suggested change of venue...

I have been feeling the need for a bit of an escape and spent some time perusing the internet for perfect virtual spot to relax and unwind. This is where I came across a spot that just broke my heart - clearly they are in dire need of my assistance to join them as a resident quality control expert. You just need to browse these photos to see exactly the extent of the situation.

A sea of infinity pools, gorgeous Asian antiques and billowing white canopies - sad, sad...

Now I truly believe that charity begins at home, which is why I propose that the Shambhala Estates should become my home. I will gladly assist them in quality and control and room testing - out of the goodness of my own heart.

The Shambhala Estate is set in Bali, Indonesia - so if you are in need of an absolutely decadent retreat, or decide to come looking for me, that's where I'll be (once I've finished my current charity work here quality control testing for Cadbury's) :).

Hope you are having a relaxing, rejuvenating weekend!

Let's go dancing in the light...

One of the people in my life who constantly inspires me with her fabulous, fashionable ways is my good friend Camille, who has been kind enough to be this playful summer ensemble. I just love the sea glass palette with a shot of bright yellow!

"I recently attended a birthday party and thought of the all of the things I would like to wear, none of which I owned of course! I kept picturing bright, fun colours and immediately turned to this lovely Sanderson print that I have always been drawn too. I have to admit that I have not been able to get away from this colour palette all summer. Sanderson has been around since 1860 and showcases beautiful prints. They are well known for their English inspired designs but also offers bold and modern designs for any space. This oufit has me craving mojitos, good music and friends! Take advantage and enjoy these warm summer nights."

(The shoes are Kenneth Cole, Crush Lane Jewellry, the clutch is vintage, a Chloe dress, the fabric and paper are called 'Dandelion Clocks' from Sanderson UK)

    Spotted!

Saw it! Found it! You may remember the darling polka dot shower curtain from Michael Penney's home? Well I've thought about it since as I've been a little obsessed with polka dots lately, so I was thrilled to see the lovely 'Dottie shower curtain' from Pottery Barn Teen.

While we're at it - I'd love a pair of those black towels with white polka dots. They'd look so charming in my little retro bathroom, a nice constrast to the usual all white. Now I'm wanting to open a wedding registry at Pottery Barn Teen (although if they have one, it raises alot of other questions...)

Fabulous Spaces: The Stylist at Home, Susie Sheffman

Take your favourite object and turn it into a room - that's exactly what Susie Sheffman did with her favourite Miu Miu belt. With it's bold chocolate brown, orange and yellow graphic tones, it provided the perfect colour scheme for Susie's home. This beautiful space has been one of my favourites since I first saw it in Canadian House and Home last year.

As the fashion director of Fashion Magazine, Susie has seen her share of fads and trends come and go, so she tries to focus on classic styles that are "modern and quintessential". The white Barcelona chair, the waterfall coffee table, the Eames lounger - to name just a few at a glance, her home is a gallery of midcentury iconic pieces all in simple, neutral tones. They provide the perfect backdrop to show off trendier styles - like the citrus hued accessories.

Of course I was immediately drawn to this home with it's all white interior (Benjamin Moore, Decorator's White), and graphic black and white Marimekko pillows. I have a similar look at home with all white and Ikea's Hedda cushions. Susie's sees the zebra print rug as 'the little black dress' of modern decor.

Susie's other inspiration for her space was one of her very favourite destinations - Palm Springs. She admits to an obsession with water and pools, you can see this reflected in the shots of aqua and of course through all the water inspired art. Above the fireplace, the photo was an outtake from a fashion shoot at a Palm Springs pool taken by friend Adam Levitt.

I love this bold, colourful statement - so simple but such a powerful way to make an impact and showcase your colour theme. This would be a very simply DIY tip to try at home.

Susie has collected this lovely rainbow of vintage glass over her trips to Palm Springs. They look so pretty sitting in the window of her dining room.I love this perfect little Miu Miu dress hung so artfully on the closet door. Of course, right next to it there's a lovely big beach photo hung in a simple gallery frame.

Black and white make a powerful statement, but in this all white bedroom with the mirrored wall behind the headboard, the simplicity of this combination is calming. A perfect place to end or begin your day.

I've been so inspired by the simple, chic style of this space. And what's best of all - it would very attainable to achieve with a selective eye and a clean, simple theme.

    Fabulous Style: Kate Moss

I'm having a little computer trouble and the post I'd intended to post today has been a little delayed. While I'm busy, here's a little fashion inspiration. I love this chic, summer look on Kate Moss.

    Change of a Dress...

I had a change of heart recently - I realized I just couldn't be happy with the wedding dress that was just 'ok', and that it had better make me feel special and have a 'magical' quality to it. Thanks to my mum and sister I got to try on all the dresses at a local boutique and play princess for a day! - and now have an order placed for a brand new one. :)

On my search, I couldn't help but think back on one of my favourites - this dress that Carrie wore to the Black and White Ball on Sex and the City. Sexy, glamorous and perfect
    for a petite frame!

    Little Black Something

You can always count even a small black accent to add a touch of sophistication and glamour. Think of it as the little black dress for your home, your hair, or any other little space.
