    Polka fever!

No, I'm not excited about Oktoberfest, but just delighted that happy little dots seem to be all around these days! There's something playful and quirky about this classic pattern that I've always loved. Unsurprisingly my favourite combination is classic black and white. Whether you choose to use a little or a lot, it always seems just right for adding the perfect little bit of punch!

Get spotted with lovely finds from Club Monaco and Kate Spade.

    Bunny love...

Remember these? Once relegated to Playboy, it seems that bunny ears are popping up everywhere! I'm not so sure I'd give them a try - outside of Halloween or a junior school play... What do you think of this quirky new trend?

Not quite brave enough for bunny ears? Show your bunny love with an adorable tee. (below)

    Let them eat cake!

We can't have a Marie Antoinette post without a little tribute to something I am deeply passionate about - cake.

Cake makes all things better. Go ahead and treat yourself today.

A Marie Antoinette inspired tea party

A recent historical discussion/debate on Marie Antoinette's infamous 'let them eat cake' quote got me thinking about one of my favourite Marie-inspired editorials.

I love the dramatic dark wall and gorgeous harvest table laden with all of autumn's finest. (I do not, however, love that rooster - I have a phobia of these vicious, evil creatures.)

A glamourous tea party al fresco - I love how perfectly the elegant, black
Great Dane blends with the ensemble.

The perfect end to every tea party - nothing could be more heavenly than a little harp music!

    An Hermès Dressing Room

What better personal statement than an entire room themed around one of your favourite things - like this sophisticated dressing room inspired by an Hermès box. A coat of bright orange paint on one wall. Dramatic orange and brown striped drapes and rich dark wood accents complete the theme. Ikea kitchen cabinets were mounted horizontally on the wall to provide extra storage space - and a lovely display for beautiful bags and shoes. The luxury of Hermès transported to your very own personal luxury - your very own dressing room.

    Pure organizational heaven!

Orange + happy: Hermès + Clicquot

These days it's hard to escape the bursts of orange here and there. With the signature deep Hermès orange to the bright, happy labels of on the Veuve Clicquot bottles, it seems that perhaps this season, happiness just requires the right shade of orange. Maybe a simple accessory, a dress, a coat of paint or the perfect coat is all it takes to set you off in the right direction. Go ahead and get that Hermès box - and just say you're being festive.

    Sunrise Orange

Darker skies and cooler breezes have me longing for the warmth of deep blood-orange warm tones. Often found in the Halloween colour palette, once paired with cool, clean white is bright and refreshing. Like a lovely, citrus-y treat first thing in the morning. The perfect compliment for crisp white sheets - or a stark Autumn sky...

    Watch this weekend...

Yes, New York City is definitely one of my very favourite places to be in Autumn, something about the season just makes me think of brownstones. One of my very favourite brownstone movie sets is Meg Ryan's home from 'You've Got Mail'. While the film spans several seasons, I always think of it as a Fall movie. I just loved Joe and Kathleen's sweet, witty banter and the above quote is a favourite of mine.

I think Kathleen's adorable shabby chic apartment would be the perfect place to enjoy an autumn weekend (and maybe re-read Pride and Prejudice? :) ). Failing being able to climb into the movie set, I think this would be the perfect rental on a rainy autumn evening. In the theme of the movie, I think a lovely warm quilt and a mug of tea would be the perfect accessories.

    Feeling bookish...

One of my very favourite things about the Autumn weather is the opportunity to sit back, snuggle in and get cozy with a good book. I have to admit, lately I haven't been the avid reader I once was - sometimes it's too easy to get caught up in the flurry of it all - so I'm looking forward to the chance to get back to a favourite pasttime.
This photo reminded me of hours spent on the library floor pouring over poetry by Anais Nin or Alice Walker, escaping the world (and my studies!) in my safe cocoon between the stacks of books.

I consider my books to be my friends and have been known to become quite attached to my favourite ones (my treasured vintage copy of Pride and Prejudice). I love having them close by to refer to when faced with an existential crisis or just a comfortable escape. I dream of always having one more great book to read, and an old favourite on hand.

Once that has been achieved, all that's left to do is to find the perfect spot - comfy seating, tea in hand, and we're set for the best of afternoons. (I hope it rains!)

Books are the quietest and most constant of friends; they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors, and the most patient of teachers. ~Charles W. Eliot

What are you reading at the moment? Any good suggestions?

    Spotted: a little leopard print...

Like the animal itself, there's something very sexy and alluring about a little leopard print. I still haven't been brave enough to go full force with a leopard print coat - I've literally just dipped my toe in with my J Crew ballet flats - however, these looks have me searching for the perfect statement coat. Leopard print has sometimes received a bit of a bad rap for looks more of the tacky variety, however, these pictures shows that it can be sexy and sophisticated.
Think Jackie O, not Cruella deVil :)

    Bewitched, bejewelled, bedazzled...

One of my favourite things about Fall fashion is the chance to add extra layers and accessories. Right now I am desperately trying to reign in my inner magpie which constantly craves shiny stones, sequins and all things that sparkle. I love adding a little glitz to a simple outfit to add a bit of glamour, but I'm afraid of getting too carried away, and running the risk of looking like a Christmas tree. But go ahead, pile it on - no doubt you'll leave them all dazzled...
