    Cape Dutch dreams...

With World Cup fever at high pitch, all eyes are now on South Africa. It's such a special moment in the continent that I hold closest to my heart and I, along with so many others can't help but wish I was down there to be a part of it all...

So I thought we'd take a little trip down to the Cape - close enough to be able to participate in all the excitement but far enough 'from the madding crowd' to be able to completely relax and replenish in between the parties and matches, and big enough to bring the party home with us.  The Vine House in the Western Cape seemed like the perfect venue - located just north of the City right in the picturesque wine route (for those of us who would prefer to sip wine rather than chug beer). Rolling hills, breathtaking views and of course, the elegant white peaks of the Cape Dutch buildings.

This home beautifully combines elegant Parisian furniture and architectural details with a bit of rustic African flair -unfinished wood beams and thatched roofs, for a look that's completely unique and refreshing.

    That closet is simply stunning!

A bathroom big enough to live in - if we run out of beds, I'll stay here!

I often dream of being back, sleeping under thatch - that warm scent in the air just makes you sleep better, I'm convinced.

I just love the contrast of the thatch and natural, sisal rug against the traditional Parisian chair and upholstered bed. Europe and Africa, living together in one room in complete harmony.

A tranquil retreat, to unwind and savour memories of the excitement long after the sounds of the blaring vuvuzelas have died down...
