    Go for bold!

While I always go back to my tried and true palettes of black and white, or all white, lately I've been enjoying a bit of an affair with bright colours. While soft neutrals may be soothing and classic, there's something just so fun and energetic about bright colour. They literally make you a little happier just to see them. This home, previously featured in O at Home, has a wonderful sense of whimsy and fun. It almost feels like a gallery in that each piece could really stand on its own as a work of art. While there are lots of accessories and interesting objects throughout the space, there's also a feeling of minimalism and space between them which prevents them for appearing too cluttered and allows each piece a chance to be appreciated on its own. While I admit that my own home is much more subdued and classic, I very much admire the sense of bravery it takes to be a bit more risky and go for bold and create a truly unique space that really speaks to the individual who inhabits it, and doesn't hide behind the boundaries of what's 'safe'.

I love these rooms. They look like a hotel, which is exactly the look the husband and I are going for.

I think bold is great and works for certain homes. I also like going bold for smaller areas if you are intimidated to go bold in large rooms. My sister in law recently went bold in her small home office (lime green, orange and a touch of purple, it might sound horrible but its actually incredible looking) and it was amazing, though the rest of the house was soft and elegantly restrained. Great examples!

Bold is beautiful in this home! Really works. I agree sometimes hard to commit to it yourself, but when I se ethos.. makes me want to try it!

Hello - I am like you. I too am a lot more neutral in my choice of colour at home, but love the odd flirt with brights. Especially in Summer when life just generally takes on a bit more colour.

These rooms are very brave indeed, and though I so appreciate them as inspiration I don't think I would feel comfortable in the long run. I fear I'd be bored. A neutral base allows so many styling options. I tend to change tings around pending my mood, season and occasion. Perhaps that is a little odd.. :)
