    Underneath a canopy

    I remember being a little girl and being absolutely fascinated by my aunt's canopy bed - it seemed to have a magical quality about it, I could hardly keep my eyes closed I kept wanting to look at the pretty floral canopy above me. As a grown up (sort of...) my love for pretty canopies remained strong and in my last 'single girl' room I had a beautiful, wispy white canopy over my bed. I always felt like I was up in the clouds or in some ethereal, romantic Arabian nights type of tent. I made me smile just to see it. Andrew has since given a veto to the girly-ness so I've passed the canopy along to my sister in hopes that it will bring her a little magic :).

    {Another lovely canopy here.}

    I've always debated the great canopy decision... I love the concept of them, but the legistics sometimes get me down.

    Beautiful photos. I never had a canopy as a child but my daughter has one now and I love laying in bed with her at night. It's so light and girly and relaxing.

    Morning T - lucky girl! I'm sure she just loves it (and is the envy of her friends)
    SR - very exciting! Enjoy!
    You'll have to share some pictures
    Parallel - I vote you get one too!

    Perhaps there is a way to make a canopy a little less girly so your man can deal with it? I used thumbtacks to hang a sari above my bed and I get the canopy effect without anything permanent (rental). Perhaps that can also answer Erin's logistics question. My boyfriend actually digs my setup. Here's a pic: http://www.flickr.com/photos/starjewel/3277408019/in/set-72157594206118839/
