    A quirky appeal

A study in contrasts - white walls and floors create an atmosphere of serenity, a beautiful collection of framed art injects a sense of personality and fun. I love that this room is a little off-balance, a little unexpected - a low slung lounge chair and coffee table heaped with books paired with a sleak dining table for two; high mounted floating shelves for leaning framed art paired with a gallery wall of frames that reach around the side. This busy wall and coffee table contrasting beautifully with the clean, simple lines of the furniture. This quirky, casual vibe just makes the space more inviting, more livable, more friendly. There's something so appealing in the lack of symmetry and 'perfection', a little less planned and a little more organic - and that to me, is just perfect.

Oh Monika - thank you! Feeling so chuffed, I just found out while visiting your lovely blog :)

Will definitely be setting up an art wall at the new place - perhaps a floating shelf to start then expand with a gallery as my collection grows? Will share pictures ;)

Helena - definitely perfect for lounging!

CJ - most welcome, thoughts are with you! xo

Isn't it fun to look for ideas for your new place... All of the old things all of a sudden assume a new life. I am sure you are using this post for inspiration... can't wait to see how your new place is coming along.

I could very happily live here...

I love the fact that their favorite art pieces are displayed in such a great, eclectic manner -- I think I almost appreciate each more because of that. I'm not concentrating on a typical grid pattern, but I'm seeing each piece for its own qualities...

    Nice post :)

SP - you're so right, you can look at all your things in a different context. It's really refreshing! Will definitely post some pictures as soon as I have some progress ;)

SK - completely agree, it really makes each piece look unique rather than part of a set. Makes you concentrate on each one. Would love to visit you once you move in :)
