    Out and about Toronto: Pavilion

With the holidays quickly approaching, a flurry of activity ensues and one of these inevitably for many of us will be shopping. While I often try to avoid the big shopping malls at all costs, it is often a lovely time to catch up with some favourite independent boutiques. I'm very excited to launch a new little series here on A Life More Fabulous introducing you to some of my favourite shops around the city, giving you a little sneak peak at some of the treasures you'll find inside.

Pavilion was a natural choice for me to start this series, I fell in love with it when I first moved back to Toronto walking across the street on a dusky evening when it's glow beckoned me inside. It's remained one of my favourite spaces ever since. So often while reading design magazines you wonder where they manage to find these beautiful, unique pieces. Most likely it was somewhere like Pavilion, a fixture on the Toronto design scene for over 15 years and for good reason. Pavilion has a strong focus on Canadian designed and manufactured furniture as well as exciting finds from around the world.

With a beautiful blend of sleek and sophisticated with the new modern rustic, it has something for everyone. With an extra large showroom, these styles are juxtaposed throughout the store giving you lots of inspiration to try this look at home.

Some of the surprising finds you'll see - buttery soft Italian leather handbags set against rustic reclaimed farmhouse tables.

Probably my favourite piece in the entire store - a pale grey cowhide bench imported from South Africa (I want this for my bedroom!), paired here with an industrial trestle based table with large glass surface.

To the naked eye this set-up with a Montauk-style sofa, a Barbara Barry mirror, a Jonathan Adler floor lamp and a mini Noguchi coffee table would carry a pretty hefty price-tag, but luckily some of these replicas offer the look for less at a much more achievable price point.

Right away you'll notice a focus on classic neutrals and a rich mixture of textures - the smooth marble, warm wood, animal hides and tailored upholstery that make this space a calm oasis within the bustle of Queen Street.

The store's aesthetic reminded me of the Fiona Barratt's Chelsea apartment - simple, modern design with touches of glamour thrown in. They have a large selection of multi-faceted mirrors and wall mounted fireplaces that would be a lovely way to add a little extra warmth and sparkle over the holidays.

With an impressive collection of furniture including lots of custom options, an array of beautiful mirrors and accessories including silvery holiday decor no doubt you won't leave empty handed.
Definitely worth the trip down to Queen West!

Pavilion is located at 739 Queen Street West, Toronto.

I also love to see the finds that show up at Pavilion, and I see they often have great stuff at their warehouse sale too!
